Design Inside Out 2016

Marni Courtyard

Milano Moda Design meets Montenapoleone Design Experience.  Milano Moda Design is the international event curated by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (The National Chamber for Italian Fashion) that takes place along with the Milan Furniture Fair  and that celebrates the now famous union between fashion and design.  The contamination between the two worlds, both excellences of the Made in Italy, gives greater value to the fashion griffes that find in Home design and Home Textile a natural continuity of style.

The pursuit of innovation, beauty and discovery typical of fashion is mirrored in art and design, and Via Monte Napoleone is  the perfect space of display.

Audi City LAB | Installation by Piero Lissoni

Matter, air, space, light. Dynamic, harmonious, floating, glowing forms. Figures that illustrate technological development reflected in the aesthetic dimension.
For FuoriSalone 2016 and Interni Open Borders, the architect Piero Lissoni interprets the Audi logo in in installations located in emblematic places of the city of Milan: the area in front of Torre Velasca and Via Monte Napoleone.
The four rings, symbol of the Audi identity, become metal creatures growing on a natural surface that emit and receive light. They evoke the lightness and strength of the mysterious, futuristic objects of the artist Fausto Melotti.

Lamborghini Huracan Coupè / Audi Group

Expressions of this apparent paradox, the sculptures – conceived to suggest research that leads to the essence of things, making them light and luminous – actually convey an idea of perfect balance. Micro-architectures that seen from above indicate the presence of Audi in the geography of the city.

LA PERLA presents MIA

La Perla shop window

Luxury in Vanity. Offering a complete vanity experience, luxury fashion house La Perla has created a one-of-a kind piece. Collaborating with designer Walter Terruso, the maison has created a custom vanity table named Mia that embodies the brand's ethos of sensuality, elegance and preciousness. Inspired by the brands founding values of sensuality, elegance, and preciousness, Mia will be on display in the windows of La Perla’s Milan via Montenapoleone flagship boutique from April 12th to 17th, 2016. Mia’s design concept combines the geometric elegance of an oversized round mirror covered in plissé silk, with the delicate fine lines of a glass and brass table structure. Maple wooden accents add to the modernity and timelessness of the La Perla creation.  The silk, also covering the back of the vanity table’s mirror, becomes le trait d’union with pouf "Esprit d’Atelier", presented by La Perla during the 2015 edition of Milan Design Week. "Mia" and "Esprit d’Atelier" celebrate the feminine beauty in all of its intimate and valuable moments.

Louis Vuitton / Lounge Chair

Louis Vuitton continues to transport its heritage into the new territory with an enriched Objets Nomades collection of foldable furniture and travel accessories. The collection pays homage to the House’s special orders of the past, such as the iconic Bed Trunk or Wardrobe Trunk, and adds a defiantly contemporary spirit.
LOUNGE CHAIR - The Lounge Chair, says its designer Marcel Wenders, is “an unfolding and portable oasis for relaxation. The three individual modules fit into each other like a puzzle, yet when laid out create three distict solutions - a chaise longue, armchair or pouffe”. Each module is manufactured in high-tech carbon fibre to be both exceptionally light and strong, and is then upholstered in rich, soft leather and the outside and suede on the inside. The leather straps that hold the modules togheter, both when packed and unpacked, are reminiscent of Louis Vuitton’s iconic travel pieces and are made in undyed leather that will patina beautifully with age. The Longue Chair is available - through the Made to Order service - in various versions.

Versace flagship / "Mesedia"

Versace just introduced its new home collection just in time for Milan Furniture Fair 2016, and it’s a must-have for anybody that wants their house to look like a gaudy Palace of Versailles. The standout piece in the range has to be the “Mesedia” chair – a climate-proof aluminum chair crafted in the image of Versace’s unmistakable Medusa’s head logo. Mesedia is available in five varied colors: haze, storm, cloud, purple sunset and sunrise.

Palazzo Morando | Costume Moda Immagine hosts  the exhibition Altra Bellezza (More Beauty) by Gaetano Pesce.  Curated by Vittorio Sgarbi, the exhibition explores the universe of Pesce through three different sections: Jewelry, Models of Shape and Mosaic Intruders.
Pesce experience has been global, his innovations consistently groundbreaking. Boundaries between art, design and industry are irrelevant to him, as art is most certainly not something created and put on a pedestal: art is a product, it is our creative response to the needs of the time we live in.
Vittorio Sgarbi, curator of the exhibition, says: “Every age had its technique, graffiti in the Prehistory, painting and wax-painting during the Romans age and fresco during the Renaissance. What is the technique of our times? The one which uses contemporary materials! E.g. the resins: they are elastic, can be rolled like paper and give mat or transparent supports giving relevance to thinking…a synthetic material, originally liquid which fixes giving rise to uncontrollable combinations. I love this quality, this way of being Gaetano Pesce”.

Born in La Spezia, Italy, in 1939, Pesce studied Architecture at the University of Venice between 1958 to 1963 and was a participant in Gruppo N, an early collective concerned with programmed art patterned after the Bauhaus.
He taught architecture at the Institut d’Architecture et d’Etudes Urbaines in Strasbourg, France, for 28 years, at the Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, at the Domus Academy in Milan, at the Polytechinc of Hong Kong, at the Architectural School of Sao Paulo and at the Cooper Union in New York City, where he has made his home since 1980, after living in Venice, London, Helsinki and Paris.
Pesce’s work is featured in over 30 permanent collections of the most important museums in the world, such as MoMa of New York and San Francisco, Metropolitan Museum in New York, Vitra Museum in Germany, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Pompidou Center and Musee des Arts Décoratifs of Louvre in Paris; he exhibits art in galleries world wide.
His award winning designs include the prestigious Chrysler Award for Innovation and Design in 1993, the Architektur and Wohnen Designer of the Year in 2006 and the Lawrence J. Israel Prize from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York in 2009.
